Motivation - Three Strategies for Getting Things Done

Everybody knows this scenario: There's a difficult tasks to do and you tell yourself you'll do it later. Ironically, later never seems to come until it's too late. Another important task left half done or not even started.

It all comes down to motivation. Even though the project's important, it's hard to to get excited about doing it. But here are three strategies that you can use to get yourself motivated and started getting things done.

1. Find the Benefit

Stay focused on the reward for completing the task. If you focus on what you have to do or how hard it will be, you'll avoid and procrastinate. Instead, think about what you have to look forward to. Focus on the benefit of finishing.

2. Clarify the Why

Make sure it's clear why you want to get these things done. Visualize the desired outcome. Keep it in mind while you are getting things done. It's important that you know why you need to work.

3. Make It a Habit

Establish a daily habit of getting things done. Make a routine. Complete important tasks at the same time each day. Don't do unimportant tasks during the time you've set aside for the important tasks. Self-discipline and motivation go hand in hand.

When you find yourself not getting things done, check your motivation. Without motivation, it's hard to even start.
